Homeless people need somewhere to go. It’s not compassionate to let people live in unsanitary conditions and die on the streets. We support smart transitional housing solutions, drug treatment and mental health services that help lift people up.
Laws apply to all citizens equally. Being poor or addicted to drugs does not give someone permission to steal, engage in disruptive behavior or pollute public spaces. We support reducing crime, not ignoring it.
Laws affecting the quality of life in Chico must be enforced. Camping in parks and public spaces must not be allowed as long as there are available shelter beds. The police need the tools, personnel and support to keep Chico safe.
